Our New Library in Nwe’ Kwe Village
May and I just came back from Nwe’ Kwe after donating Kyat 7,740,000. UNWA donation of US$ 8800 x 880 rate) to Myinta Nanda Monastic School. Attached is the donation receipt from the Sayadaw with photos of the construction.
Once we informed the Sayadaw about UNWA grant, he started constructing the library. It is quite spacious. It measures 44′ x 32′ & will be used not only as a library but also as a community centre. The total cost of construction is more than our donated funds but Sayadaw will name UNWA, MBAPF & NLR on the plaque as donor of this building. It will be finished before October, 2012.
The building will have a separate room for volunteers who can stay overnight. His school is getting volunteers from overseas + locally for teaching. This room has a bathroom attached So future volunteers can stay there.
At present, over 300 students (100 boarding + 200 from nearby villages) are attending from KG through 10th Standard. They have over 15 teachers. We also discussed our upcoming teachers training workshop and they are willing to hold it at the school. They can invite some other teachers from nearby schools. It will be great for Gayle and Sue’s workshops.
Thanks again for all your support and generous donation.
With best regards,
Thant
