Our mission
Nargis Library Recovery is a Seattle-based 501c-3 non-profit organization dedicated to rebuilding libraries and providing books for the people of Myanmar (Burma) whose homes and lives were destroyed by Cyclone Nargis.
Your donations are tax-deductible.
Our Goals
By December 31, 2011 we will have distributed 600,000 books to 250 libraries throughout Myanmar.
By the end of 2013 we expect to have shipped and distributed one-million books donated by Thrift Books.

American President Line’s final donated container ships June 23
NARGIS LIBRARY RECOVERY PROJECT– NEWSLETTER #16, JUNE 2010 UPDATES The last of American President Line’s six donated containers loaded with our books will be hoisted aboard APL Vietnam and steam from Port Seattle on June 23rd. Not only is this a free berth on one of their ships, they also pay the cost in Singapore of transfer and shipping on a smaller freighter to navigate up the Malay Peninsula into Yangon’s narrow Hlaing River.
